Post is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) and is private and for-profit. On December 5, 2024 it was acquired by a subsidiary of Universidad Andrés Bello (UNAB), a nonprofit university in Chile. Since April 2026 it has been on NECHE’s Program of Special Monitoring, which NECHE calls “supervisory not punitive.”

If you are paying with your own money this time, the worry is losing it on a degree you do not finish. At Post, the credits you bring set how many you pay for: up to 90 can be considered toward a bachelor’s, a ceiling rather than a promise, and each one that counts is one fewer credit at $629.

A subsidiary of a Chilean nonprofit university bought Post in December 2024

Post’s Mission & Leadership page says: “Since 2004, Post University is a wholly owned subsidiary of Post Education, Inc., a Delaware Corporation. Post Education, Inc., is a subsidiary of Universidad Andrés Bello (UNAB).” Its accreditation page dates the change of ownership to December 5, 2024, when Post was acquired by a subsidiary of UNAB.

UNAB is a private nonprofit university in Santiago, Chile, according to Post’s December 17, 2024 announcement. College Scorecard and College Navigator still list Post itself as private for-profit.

  1. NECHE first accredits Post

  2. NECHE continues Post's accreditation

  3. A subsidiary of UNAB acquires Post

  4. NECHE places Post on a Program of Special Monitoring

  5. NECHE's next comprehensive evaluation of Post

NECHE’s policy says it sets up that program when it approves the sale of a school, and calls the decision “supervisory not punitive.” While it runs, Post needs NECHE’s approval in advance for changes such as adding programs delivered through distance education.

Post’s business programs are accredited by ACBSP, its bachelor’s and master’s nursing programs by CCNE, and its Doctor of Nursing Practice by ACEN. Our five-minute check for whether an online school is legit shows how to confirm any accreditor yourself.

On top of tuition, Post charges a $50 technology fee each term and $90 per course for electronic course materials in courses that use them. Students in the business, public service and arts and sciences schools pay a $90 graduation fee; the nursing college lists its own fees.

College Scorecard lists $16,499 in tuition and fees for 2025-26, the same for in-state and out-of-state students. Online courses run in 8-week terms: Post’s 2026-27 calendar lists six starts, June 29, August 31 and October 26, 2026, and January 11, March 8 and May 3, 2027, and says dates are subject to change.

Transfer credits cut the bill: up to 90 can be considered toward a bachelor’s

Post’s bachelor’s in business administration takes 120 credits, and the table below uses that total. Post considers transfer credit for courses with a grade of C or above, and its policy says “Courses must be similar in nature, level, and content to a course in our curriculum.”

From a four-year school, up to 90 credits can be considered toward a bachelor’s; from a two-year school, up to 75. You must earn at least 30 credits at Post, including 15 in your major.

Example: tuition for the credits left at Post at $629 a credit (2026-27), if every transferred credit counts; the caps are ceilings, not promises

Work experience can count too. With five years of professional experience in your field, a prior learning portfolio can earn up to 30 credits toward a bachelor’s, but certifications, prior learning, test-outs and ACE-reviewed training together can make up no more than 25% of the degree. Ask for a written transfer evaluation before you enroll.

  • You need online terms that fit around work. 92% of undergraduates studied fully online in fall 2024, and online courses run in 8-week terms with six starts in 2026-27. See how online degrees for working adults compare on the same Scorecard measures.

Watch-outs

Check your own aid before you apply to Post

The aid check shows your Pell estimate, a possible state grant, campus-based aid and your federal loan limits under the rules for the year you start (2026-27 or 2027-28). It takes about two minutes and shows the result before any email. Post’s financial aid office sets your actual offer; its FAFSA, Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The free federal form for grants, federal student loans and work-study. Most states and schools use it for their own aid too. school code is 001401.

On the same measures, College Scorecard’s October 2026 data puts Franklin University at a 53% eight-year rate for 2017-18 starters and $20,571 in median federal debt for graduates who entered repayment in fiscal 2024 and 2025, and Southern New Hampshire University at 39% and $19,999.
